Revolutionizing Fishing Trawlers with Solar Power Systems: A Sustainable Chilling Solution

At Goa Solar Power House Solar, we are dedicated to encouraging sustainable behaviours and utilising solar energy’s transformative potential in various industries. Our solar power system, which was put on a fishing boat and revolutionised the fish hold chilling process, is one such success story. Let’s investigate the outstanding advantages that this solar-powered technology has given our client’s fishing trawler.

Reduced Ice Consumption:

Since the installation of our solar power system, the fishing trawler has had to carry a lot less ice on each voyage. The boat’s cargo capacity increased by removing the need for extra ice storage, enabling a larger catch and better profitability.

Enhanced Fish Quality for Export:

It’s important to maintain catch quality, especially for the export market. The fish was kept fresh and of high quality, satisfying international standards and adding to the value of the harvest during exports thanks to the solar-powered chiller system.

Cost Savings

a) Stagnant Water Pumping:

The solar power system removed the need for the main engine to run in order to operate the pumps, saving a significant amount of money. With two visits each month, our client was able to save 2 tonnes of ice every trip, which resulted in a monthly fuel cost savings of about Rs 3000.

b) Pump Usage for Fish Cleaning:

The solar system can now power the fish cleaning process, which previously required the main engine to run for at least 6 instances of 30 minutes each. This produced a remarkable monthly fuel expense savings of about Rs 9612, which is very significant.

c) Geyser for Water Heating:

The solar-powered geyser system greatly decreased the use of gas cooking cylinders, resulting in further cost savings and supporting an environmentally beneficial approach.

System Description:

Based on the available sunshine, our Solar PV Modules effectively produce DC electricity. These modules are linked in parallel and series to create a solar array, which supplies the necessary voltage. In order to receive the most sun exposure, the system is mounted on a Module Mounting Structure (MMS) that is inclined at a maximum angle according on the location’s latitude.

We use a high-efficiency DC-AC inverter to effectively convert the DC power generated by the solar panels into AC power suitable for outlets so that the electricity may be used for electrical devices. This guarantees the best efficiency and financial viability for the full off-grid solar system.

Lightning Protection:

We have installed overvoltage and lightning protection in our SPV Power Plant. The Array Junction Boxes and the Inverter both have Metal Oxide Varistors (MOV) to protect the system from overvoltage brought on by lightning strikes or other atmospheric disturbances.

PV Modules Mounting Structure:

The module mounting mechanism holds the solar modules firmly in place and was created with space optimisation and efficiency in mind. High-grade stainless steel is used in the frame assembly’ construction to ensure longevity and resistance to harsh marine environments.

Conclusion:

Our fishing trawler’s solar power system’s successful installation has raised sustainability and environmental awareness within the sector while simultaneously lowering operational costs. We are honoured to have been included in The Goan as evidence of our dedication to renewable energy solutions. We at Goa Solar Power House Solar are eager to keep assisting additional fishing trawler companies and boat owners on their path to a more sustainable and prosperous future.
